Logging

Every time Access Maintainer starts a processing activity it will overwrite the Access Maintainer Log.txt file with a new processing log.

There a three parts to the log:

  1. Search Results - this section displays statistics regarding the search process. Totals are given for the following items:
  • Total - total number of files found in the search path matching the extension list. (not all of these files need to be compacted)
  • Modified - number of files that have been changed since the last time Access Maintainer compacted them. (these files have a different last saved date or file size)
  • New - Access Maintainer does not have this file in it's previously processed list (.ppl file) This is the first time it has been processed.
  • Retry - an error occurred with this database on the previous processing run. (someone may have been using the database) This database will be retried.
  • Final Total - the number of databases that need to be compacted.
  1. File Processing - this section lists the result of each file that is processed.
The line will start with either "Error:" or "OK:"
The filename is then printed followed by the version number of the database. (this is the Jet version number - see the
    comparison table in the FAQ).
It is possible for the version number to show "(v?)" where a workgroup is being used but the username and password supplied has no access for that particular database.

  2. Processing Results - this section displays the error totals for the database processing.
  • Successful - refers to the total number of databases successfully processed.
  • Errors - the number of databases that where not processed.
  • Compacted - The amount of disk space saved by this processing run.
